Before we begin something big or scary, we usually stop to make sure we have a plan in place. We try to account for all the things that could go wrong and prepare for all possible outcomes.
If we aren’t careful, it becomes very easy to get stuck in the planning stage. Planning is safe. No one can judge a plan. A plan can’t fail. No one can say to a plan, “I told you so.”
We’re afraid to move forward so we sit and plan and revise and delay and say “it’s not ready yet.” What we really mean is I’m not ready yet.
Planning is all well and good, but staying in that stage guarantees exactly one thing – we won’t accomplish whatever it is we’re planning.
If we’re too afraid to take the step forward, that’s fine. But lets at least call it what it is.
